1895-1898 Dayton Bicycles & Tandems – Price-List of Parts

Image on the back page of a woman with a veil riding a Dayton is the same featured on the Davis Sewing Machine Company letterhead of 1896.

Lending further support to what for many is the surprising relevation that the first Dayton bicycles were made in 1895 and not 1892 (as erroneously claimed in Huffman & Huffy advertising down through the decades)(see Page 2 of the 1896 Dayton Catalog) the parts list for 1895 is exremely brief stating in essence that with the exception of two parts listed the parts numbers and prices for 1896 models are the same as those listed for 1895 models.

The 1895 section also contains the statement, “Do not refer to catalogue numbers of parts, when ordering parts for 1895 machines.” This provides evidence for the unsurprising fact that an 1895 catalog was produced, though none is known to have survived as far as I know.
